Frequently Asked Questions

We're well aware that there are likely to be plenty of questions you will want to ask before signing up for a DeployCMS account. However, rather than bombarding our inbox, please look through our carefully chosen list of questions & answers below.

If you still have a question unanswered, let us know and we'll happily add it to this list.

Why exactly is DeployCMS so great?

If you create websites, DeployCMS will not only impress your clients like never before with a truly cutting-edge CMS, the site management facilities will make your life so much easier you'll be on the beach/hang-gliding/watching TV with a huge bag of Doritos* far more often.

How much does it cost to use DeployCMS?

The cost for running a single Tier 1 site on DeployCMS is £20 per month. DeployCMS is designed to scale as your site does. You can upgrade your plans at any time and pay for additional features such as disc space and internet bandwidth as and when it's needed. See the Pricing page for more information on pricing plans.

There are no (and never will be) 'initial' or 'start-up' costs with DeployCMS. We like to be straight forward with our pricing so there are no hidden charges!

If you are unsure about how the pricing system works, please contact us.

Do I have to pay to start building my website(s)?

No. Every DeployCMS account includes a 'Sandbox' area which is purely for your development and testing. It's essentially a website that only you have access to, enabling you to produce your next site before deploying it live, at which point you start to pay according to the pricing tier that the site fits into. See the Pricing page for more information on pricing plans.

Once a site has been deployed, you are free to use your Sandbox area for development of another site, or experimenting with plug-ins perhaps; anything you like. DeployCMS Partners may request additional Sandboxes should they need them - please contact us if this is the case.

Why does DeployCMS not offer an 'unlimited' plan?

Because we believe in simple, honest pricing that's easy to understand. In truth there isn't a company in the world that can offer a truly 'unlimited' service, especially if it's a web host (if there were then Google, Amazon, Ebay would undoubtedly take them up on that offer). We don't do 'small print' and have no 'fair usage' policies, simply you pay as you go and get exactly what you pay for - it's that easy!

How do I become a DeployCMS Partner?

Well if you have more than one site with DeployCMS, then congratulations, you're a Partner!

There are various benefits to being a Partner, see the Pricing page for more details.

Why must all plug-ins that run on DeployCMS be approved by the DeployCMS team?

DeployCMS uses an approval process on all plug-ins that either run on our standard packages or on ones that Partners wish to distribute through the Marketplace (See Q6 for more on this specifically). Why? Well, we use an approval process to check that the plug-ins are:

  • Working as advertised
  • Providing useful functionality (for example, functionality that is provided by various other plug-ins, or provides functionality in a new a useful way)
  • Safe to run on our network - specifically is coded professionally and will not damage the DeployCMS service. It should be noted we may not necessarily provide complete testing of your plug-in - the author is expected to do this.
  • Not being used for nefarious purposes
  • Compatible with various versions of DeployCMS.

We allow users to build their own plug-ins and to run unapproved plug-ins, but only on our custom packages. Please contact us if you'd like to know more about custom packages.

Why can't I distribute my unapproved plug-ins via the Marketplace?

We aim to make the DeployCMS experience as simple and easy to use as possible, therefore we choose to approve all plug-ins to make sure that plug-ins:

  • Comply with our usability guidelines
  • Are safe to run, and work as advertised
  • Play nicely with other plug-ins
  • Are compatible with certain past versions and current versions of DeployCMS.
